A rare "DEFIANCE" SMOOTHING PLANE by the Bailey Tool Company, Woonsocket, Rhode Island. This example of the August 3, 1875 U.S. Patent of David F. Williams of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, which has an offset brass adjustment knob incorporated in the frog mechanism, retains some 70% of its original black japan finish. It is complete with the proper "Defiance" cutting iron with "battleaxe" trademark. From the Collection of Hank Dotson, Mansfield, Ohio.

This auger is cast with the date of the January 24, 1882 U.S. Patent issued to Ernest P. Chesbro of Willimantic, Connecticut. The only example of this rare patented fruit auger that we have offered for sale.

A perfectly preserved example of "ATWATER'S PATENT TIGER WRENCH" as produced by the Utility Wrench Company of New York City. This quick adjustment wrench has a precise adjustment mechanism and is arguably too delicate for the work it was designed to perform. It was patented on August 13, 1878 by Henry W. Atwater of Newton, Massachusetts. The best example we have seen of this uncommon early patent quick-adjust wrench in the smallest size offered. Highly recommended.

An ODD FELLOWS LODGE STERLING SILVER HEAD CANE by the International Order Of Odd Fellow, Baltimore, Maryland. This cane has a ceremonial type tip showing the letters "O O O". The symbol of the Odd Fellows showing an eye with the letters "F", "L" and "T", which stand for "Friendship, Love and Truth", inside a chain is affixed to the top of the cane.

A RARE FOUR IRON SPECIAL PURPOSE WOODWORKING PLANE by Reed, Utica, New York. This plane has a nicker spur, a cove form cutting iron and a dado type cut on the outside. These unusual planes, which seem to have been the exclusive province of Upstate New York makers, were reportedly used in the carriage making trade. It has been branded, Philadelphia-style with the name of the original owner, one "J. Staub". Jacob Staub was listed as a "Carriage Maker" residing at 126 Embargo Street in Rome, New York in the Rome City Directory for 1890.

A full box of six BUTLER'S PATENT MASTER FRAMING RULES, No. BU 906, by the Master Rule Manufacturing Company, New York, New York. This special purpose rule was patented on August 26, 1952 by David J. Butler of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. A full box of six rules, all retaining their original paper band are included, all housed in their original box, which is imprinted with a drawing of a carpenter using the rule and the designation "Makes Every Carpenter a Layout Expert"--something that may have come as a surprise to carpenters who had completed an apprenticeship and years of experience making themselves into "Layout Experts". A super group of uncommon patented rules in their original box in top condition. From the Collection of Joel Hodapp, St. Louis, Missouri.

A LIMITED EDITION SQUEVEL, NO. CT-1, part of a limited edition produced by the Bridge City Tool Company, Portland, Oregon. This was the very first of the series that was to become the "CT" series of commemorative tools. Offered as part of a Limited Edition of less than one thousand, this tool was part of the "CT" tool series produced by Bridge City each year with the promise that the tools produced in that series "...were never to be made again. Eagerly sought after by collectors, this tool was apparently produced in smaller numbers than the later tools in the series as examples seldom are available on the open market. This rare commemorative tool is in top condition in its original pasteboard box.

A DOVETAILED SOLE GUNMETAL BLOCK PLANE as crafted by Modern Master Wayne Anderson of Big Lake, Minnesota. This artfully crafted plane has a fluted gunmetal bridge and fluted infill and wedge. The wedge has a "cupid's bow" form at the leading edge. It is signed by the maker in script on the side together with the year of its making, "2004. It looks never to have been used.

An extremely rare and exceptionally well preserved "FLICK STICK" GENTLEMAN'S CANE. This can has a dagger concealed beneath the head that is revealed by swinging the cane in a downward direction. the dagger is then locked in place where it can be used to stave off an assault on the holder of the cane. The cane has a cast pewter head and a top fashioned from dark horn.
