The ORIGINAL ACCOUNT LEDGER compiled by Joel Coe of Lewis County, New York between the yeares 1791 and 1811. The book, which measures 16" tall by 7" wide by 3/4" thick, documents all manner of accounts between Coe and many local persons for carting wood, renting horses, repairing bridges, having clothes mended, plowing, the sale of wood, a listing of work performed for others and the wages earned and much more. Names of persons documented in the book include Jehial Hall, Liman Bates, Ezra Miller, Anthony Tufelt, Eber Hubbard, Henry Ely, Oliver Pryar, Ephriam Williams and many more. The book is bound in calfskin with marbled boards, which are well worn. The binding has deteriorated and both covers are loose as are many pages, but the book is otherwise complete and intact. A few period receipts and documents for such things as freight hauling and a "Receipt for Mixing Paint", showing the procedure for making paint from shellac and pigment by boiling specific ingredients for a specified period of time. An interesting look at the life of one man in rural Lewis County, New York on the western edge of the Adirondack Mountains in the high "lake effect" snow region of the Tughill Plateau in the the last decade of the Eighteent Century and the first decade of the Nineteenth Century. An example of LELAND'S PATENT RATCHET HAND DRILL, No. 1980, by the Millers Falls Company, Millers Falls, Massachusetts. This multiple speed ratcheting drill was patented on June 10, 1913 by John A. Leland of Montague Falls, Massachusetts and assigned to the Millers Falls Company. It is in nearly new condition, retaining some 98% of its shiny original finishes. An extremely rare and exceptionally well preserved BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD JOINTER PLANE by the Ohio Tool Company, Columbus, Ohio. This plane has a mahogany wedge and a beech handle and looks to have been very little used. The Ohio Tool Company offered wooden smoothing planes in rosewood, together with a note that other types of planes were available in that material by "special order". This planes was almost certainly a Special Order item from the Ohio Tool Company. The only rosewood jointer plane by this maker of which we are aware. A MINIATURE SCALE MODEL OF JOSLYNS PATENT NUT WRENCH as produced by master miniaturist Hilary Klein of Granville, Iowa. Finely crafted of brass, mahogany and steel this miniature masterpiece is in brand new condition in its original walnut box. The original was patented on March 3, 1857 by B.F. Joslyn of Worcester, Massachusetts. These miniature wrenches were produced by Iowa craftsman and collector Hilary Klein for many years for a select group of approximately ten collectors.
