S. Cook, Memphis, Tennessee
$50.00 - $100.00
A SOLID ROSEWOOD SIDE RABBET MOLDING PLANE by S. Cook, Memphis, Tennessee. This exotic wood special purpose molding plane has a sheared wedge finial, but is otherwise in excellent condition. Solomon Cook was an itinerant planemaker, who, in addition to Memphis, Tennessee, worked in New Albany, Indiana and Jeffersonville, Indiana. The late Bill Rigler, a Founding Member of the Mid-West Tool Collectors did considerable research on Cook and assembled a collection of his planes, many of which, he observed, were marked with the owner imprint of one "B. Peck". It is not known if he ever discovered the history of B. Peck, but, whoever B. Peck was, he must have had quite a chest of tools. This plane is marked on the heel with the owner stamp "B. Peck". From the Collection of Rick Kerns, St. Joseph, Missouri.
