An EARLY NINETEENTH CENTURY GUNSMITH'S FOLIO LEDGER as compiled between 1832 and 1847 by Asa Sawyer of Methuen, Massachusettsloose pages. This ledger, which measures 13" tall x 8" wide x 3/4" thick, contains 43 full pages of entries of transactions conducted between 1832 and Sawyer's death in 1847. All types of gunsmithing transactions, including repairs to pistols and rifles, are documented in flowing script. Included with the book are several pages documenting the inventory of the gunsmith's shop as it existed at the time of Sawyer's death, in 1847. Guns, gun parts and machines such as lathes and rifling machines are documented in a way that reveals the actual working conditions for a gunsmith in the middle of the Nineteenth Century.
