A NON-ADJUSTABLE "VICTOR" BLOCK PLANE, No. 52, by Leonard Bailey & Company, Hartford, Connecticut. This example of the October 16, 1877 U.S. Patente of Leonard Bailey is in excellent condition, retaining some 80% of its original black japan finish. The cutting iron is secure by a rounded screw eye set in a receiver on the body of the plane. From the Collection of John and Janet Wells, Berkeley, California. In an unprecedented act of generosity, it was the express wish of John and Janet Wells that the proceeds from the sale of their extraordinary collection be divided equally between the Early American Industries Association and the Mid-West Tool Collectors Association.
