An EARLY PATENT NAIL PULLER by Patrick Bryant, Chesterfield, Massachusetts, patented April 10, 1849. This is one of the earliest, if not the very first, of what would be hundreds of attempts to perfect this workaday tool that were registered with the United States Patent Office. This unusual extra large size variation has a different jaw configuration than the smaller sizes we have sold and it may represent an earlier, less refined, manner of making. From the Collection of Bill Curtis, Watertown, New York.
