STANLEY RULE & LEVEL DOVETAIL T. & G. PLANE COMPLETE & CRISP MISSING 1 SPUR BLOCK
The Stanley No. 444 is a classic example of a tool that, by virtue of its existence, implied that the skill involved in a complex, traditional woodworking technique could be taken out of the hands of a craftsman and built into a tool. It was not the intention of the Stanley Rule & Level Company to suggest any such thing, only to provide a means for those otherwise accomplished to more effectively accomplish the task of cutting dovetails. What can be surmised from the few remaining examples of this rare tool is that many who purchased these planes either lacked the skill to use them or simply bought the plane, put it on a shelf and never bothered with it again. This complete example includes a full set of cutters, all original parts except one of the two "spur blocks", two sets of original instructions and is in ready to use condition. Well over 98% of the original finishes, including the shiny nickel plating remain on this extraordinarily well preserved tool. A rare special purpose Stanley plane in top condition. Price: $985.00 |

TIFFANY & CO. STERLING SILVER POIN RULE W/ PENCIL RARE & EXCELLENT
It had to happen, I guess, that the name of Tiffany and Company would come to be associated with Martin J. Donnelly Antique Tools. It seems, in retrospect, inevitable, that their products would someday be offered here. Alas, they have always been envious of our high standard of quality, but their efforts, until now, have fallen short of the mark for inclusion within the hallowed pages of these lists. It is with great pleasure that we offer this most unusual Sterling Silver mechanical pencil, pointing device and extension rule combination. A Tiffany Collectible of Martin J. Donnelly Quality. Price: $275.00 |

YOUNG, EMANUEL/FAIRFIELD CO., O. MECHANICAL MODEL OF UP & DOWN SAW MILL MECHANICALLY COMPLEX EARLY BRASS PLAQUE
|
|
A mechanically complex and nearly perfectly preserved mechanical MODEL OF AN "UP & DOWN" TYPE SAW MILL as produced by Emanuel Young, Fairfield County, Ohio. The name of Young and the "Fairfield County" designation are engraved on the brass plaque mounted on the face of the tool. Research has revealed that this Emanuel Young was granted at least two United States Patents, and it could be that this model, which measures 11 1/2" x 11 1/2", could have been produced as a model for a patent that was either never applied for or never granted. Both ends of the model are hinged and will swing open to reveal the extremely complex mechanical workings of this elaborate model. A superb example of the craftsmanship of the Nineteenth Century American inventor. Highly Recommended. Auction: IC06-780 Estimate: $1500.00 - $3000.00
