A "PHILLIPS' IMPROVED" PATENT PLOW PLANE by Babson & Repplier, Boston, Massachusetts. The skate is stamped with the patent date of January 1, 1872 and the maker name. Much of the original red and gold decoration remains on this clean and complete example. Six original double-sided irons are included. A nice example of a rare and desirable patented plow plane.
