STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CABINETMAKER'S BLOCK PLANE EARLY ARCH T.M. 98% ORIG. PAINT | |
Designed for extremely precise mitre planing, Stanley's No. 9 Cabinetmaker's block plane was offered by Stanley for nearly 75 years following its introduction in 1870. This was very likely the tool among all of the Stanley line that was the most fragile and prone to breakage. Despite several modifications in the frog mechanism over the years, these planes are almost invariably damaged in some way, primarily as a result of exertion of stress at the point where the rear handle attaches to the body. The complete and very well preserved example offered here is one of the early versions of this tool. Its cutting iron is imprinted with the early "arch" Stanley trademark and it predates the period when Stanley offered an auxiliary side handle with the plane. A rare and desirable Stanley plane in top working order. Price: $2275.00 |
