Originally published in 1941, this book would be well worth having were it no more than a virtual walking tour of Charleston’s great homes and buildings and their unique and decorative ironwork. That walking tour is contained within this well illustrated book, but is much more, including a historical overview of the founding and settlement of Charleston and a history of some of the great blacksmiths of that city. Whether or not you’re planning a trip to Charleston, we recommend this well written and well illustrated book. When you have finished reading it, you will definitely be planning a trip to Charleston.
