| Cresson, W./Philada. : Child's 10" Saw. Ca. 1860. Early And Excellent. Length: 10.00 Inches. Shown with an actual-size mechanical pencil to highlight its diminutive size, this early (ca. 1840-1850) hand saw features a highly detailed handle and a blade that is accurate in its resemblance to the full size saw down to the characteristic "nib", all elements of which would vanish as handsaws moved into mass production. Clearly marked with Cresson's incuse imprint, there can be little doubt that this high quality hand saw was fitted out as a toy, rather than an actual working tool. While tools as toys are known by other American makers, even at this early period, this is undoubtedly the finest of these tools we have ever had the privilege of offering. A magnificent indulgence for the grown-up. (GOOD+).
