O ur photo of the day shows the flag that flies over the World Headquarters Complex. Up until the last few days, the skies have been so overcast and filled with ice and blowing snow that we were unable to tell whether or not the flag had survived the winter. The weathervane on the top was put together from a piece of "tool art" from Martin's collection and the original weathervane the first summer after we moved here. Today the "Loading of the Trucks" begins as we prepare to make the trek to Indianapolis Next Week. Reports have come in that the Ramada Inn has been having trouble with their telephones. The hotel management assures us that they are working on the problem and expect that they will have had it fixed by the time you read this. The number to call is (317) 897-4000, but if you have any trouble at all, please call us at (800) 869-0695. We can help. Another one of the interesting collections from Tennessee Collectors, Hunter and Jean Pilkington, is Shaving Mugs. Earlier this spring we featured a photograph of the whole group of mugs. Unmarked : Violinmaker's Metallic Plane. Cast Bronze Body. Superb Patina. Length: 5.50 Inches. This extraordinary cast bronze handled rabbeting plane was acquired more than forty years ago by a private collector together with a group of musical instrument maker's tools. Having a form unlike any plane we have ever offered, the handle of this superbly patinated plane has been delicately chamfered into a pattern designed to fit smoothly into the hand of a master craftsman. All of the elements of the style of this most appealing miniature plane point to a tool of early Nineteenth Century origin. Extra nice. (GOOD+).
