The Complete Woodworker, by Bernard E. Jones, Editor. 408 Pages. Softbound. If you are interested in learning more about hand woodworking than how to use a circular saw, then this ca. 1920's reprinted instruction manual is for you. In a work that goes well beyond a superficial treatment of its subject, Editor Bernard Jones has compiled a series of articles that illustrate, in detailed line drawings and photographs, how the tools that are now collectible were actually used. Included are chapters on the use and adjustment of tools, the cutting and fitting of all manner of wood joints, and a series of projects for the home woodworker, including detailed instructions on "aeroplane woodwork". A thorough chapter on the types and properties of wood adds real value. Perhaps the most valuable section is the 20 page chapter on the use of the Stanley No. 55 plane. If you enjoy woodwork and wish to benefit from the wisdom of the ages, we highly recommend this book. UNAVAILABLE (BK-0124) |
