In a work that set the continuing standard for this superb series, Landis looks at the workbench in every imaginable form, with a special eye toward the historical development of this essential accessory to woodworking. The Workbench Book is filled with superb color and black & white photographs, including many of classic workbenches of the past. Included are plans for making traditional workbenches for the home shop, information on the many uses of the workbench; a survey of the use of workbenches in non-Western cultures and, finally a chapter that sings the praises of the latter day workbench, the Black & Decker Workmate.
